Caladesi Island

Caladesi Island is one of three possible stops on our 90-minute guided jet ski Island Tour Experience. Located in the Gulf of Mexico north of Clearwater Beach, Caladesi Island is accessible only by passenger ferry or private boat — or, in our case, by jet ski.

Caladesi Island State Park is a Florida State Park on a three-mile-long island that boasts some of the most stunning beaches in the United States. The Caladesi Island beach has been listed multiple times among the finest beaches in the country. Although sometimes described as a separate island, Caladesi shares its island geography with Clearwater Beach — the two were connected until a 1921 hurricane cut Hurricane Pass and divided the larger island into two parts, creating Caladesi and Honeymoon Island.

Homesteader Henry Scharrer and his daughter Myrtle lived on the island in the 1880s, among the earliest European settlers in the area. Today, the island is preserved as a state park, protecting its pristine beaches, mangroves, and pine forests.

On the jet ski ride to Caladesi Island, dolphins are frequently spotted alongside the skis. Riders stop at the island to take photos, walk the beach, and experience the unspoiled shoreline. The calm, shallow waters near the island are ideal for spotting marine life, and the sandy stretches are often lined with shells.

The ride from Clearwater Beach to Caladesi Island takes riders through the Gulf of Mexico's diverse ecosystem, where the variety of flora and fauna make up the local marine environment.
