What We Do
Idle Speed Watersports runs guided jet ski island tours and paddle-sport rentals from the north end of Clearwater Beach, Florida. Our signature experience is a 90-minute guided ride across the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico to one of three barrier islands — Honeymoon Island, Caladesi Island, or Three Rooker Island — with a stop to take photos and a good chance of spotting wild dolphins along the way. We also rent kayaks and paddleboards for guests who prefer to explore the calm, shallow waters near shore at their own pace.
Who It’s For
You don’t need any experience to ride. Our guides give a full safety briefing and hands-on instruction before every tour, and most of our guests are first-timers. Tours are a fit for couples, families with teenagers, and groups of friends; each jet ski seats two riders, and we cap groups at six skis to keep things personal and safe. Anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 who wants to operate a ski will need a Florida Boating Safety Education Certificate, which you can earn online before you arrive.

Idle Speed Watersports is locally owned and operated on Clearwater Beach. We run a fleet of eight Yamaha jet skis, maintained regularly and kept in top condition, and our guides are trained locals who know these waters, the wildlife, and the best routes to the islands.
